Fourth Coast Illuminated is an exhibition of art featuring 75 works by 30 members of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators living in the Great Lakes region. It will be on exhibit in the Glen Vista Gallery at Kalamazoo Nature Center until September 10. I’ve been so busy helping to organize and get the show installed that I haven’t had time to post that I’ve got three pieces in the show!
The show features flora, fauna, and archaeological subjects of the Great Lakes region. Along with being beautiful works of art, all of the pieces in the show display the accuracy and detail that scientific illustrators strive for. There are quite a few watercolors (both on paper and on calfskin vellum), acrylics, pen & ink, finely rendered pencil drawings, and prints. For more information and to see an online Gallery Guide, check out the exhibit’s Facebook page. The show is in Kalamazoo Nature Center’s Glen Vista Gallery and runs until September 10 but if you live in the Kalamazoo area, I highly suggest you see it in person for the full effect!
